# Microsoft integration

> Connect Outlook Calendar and Outlook email to Dover so interviews get Teams links and candidate emails send from Outlook.

## Overview

Dover works with your Microsoft account in two ways, and you connect each one separately. You need a Microsoft business account.

| Connection | What it does | Where you connect it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Microsoft Calendar** | Lets candidates book interviews with you, avoids double-booking, and creates an Outlook event with a Microsoft Teams link. | **Account settings → Interviews & Notetaker** |
| **Microsoft** (Outlook email) | Sends candidate emails from your Outlook address, and can show replies in Dover. | **Account settings → Email Connection** |

Each person connects their own account. You can also start either connection from its card in **Settings → Integrations**.

## Connect Microsoft Calendar

1. Click **Account settings → Interviews & Notetaker**.
2. Click **Connect Microsoft**.
3. Choose **Minimal permissions** or **Full permissions**. See [Choose calendar permissions](#choose-calendar-permissions).
4. Click **Continue with Microsoft**, sign in, and approve the permissions.

When it's connected, the page shows **Microsoft Outlook** with **Connected**, your account, and your permission level. For the rest of the setup, see [Setting up your interview preferences](https://docs.dover.com/scheduling-interviewing/setting-up-your-interview-preferences/).

### Choose calendar permissions

| Level | What Dover sees | Where interviews are booked |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Full permissions** | Event details on your calendar. | On your own Outlook calendar, with a Microsoft Teams link for the meeting. |
| **Minimal permissions** | Only whether you're free or busy. | On the Dover hiring calendar. |

To switch, click **Change** next to your permission level and connect again with the other option.

---

## Connect Microsoft email

1. Click **Account settings → Email Connection**.
2. Click **Connect Microsoft**.
3. Choose a permission level, **Send + Read Emails** or **Send Emails Only**.
4. Click **Connect**, sign in to Microsoft, and approve the permissions.

**Send + Read Emails** also shows candidates' replies in Dover, and may need approval from your Microsoft admin. **Send Emails Only** sends from Dover, and replies go to your Outlook inbox. For the permissions the admin approves, and what to do about each error, see [Emailing candidates](https://docs.dover.com/managing-candidates/emailing-candidates/).

## Reconnect or disconnect

You manage both connections in your personal settings. If either one needs you to sign in, **Settings → Members** shows a red icon next to your name, with a tooltip such as **Calendar needs authentication** or **Email not connected**.

**To disconnect Microsoft Calendar,** open **Account settings → Interviews & Notetaker** and click **Disconnect** next to your calendar. Candidates can't book interviews with you through Dover until you reconnect.

**To disconnect Microsoft email,** open **Account settings → Email Connection** and click **Disconnect Microsoft**. Dover stops sending email and syncing replies through your Microsoft account.

To reconnect, connect again from the same page. To change email permission levels, disconnect and connect again. To use Google instead, disconnect Microsoft first. See [Google integration](https://docs.dover.com/integrations/google-integration/).

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need to connect both Microsoft Calendar and Microsoft email?

They do different jobs. Connect the calendar to schedule interviews, and email to send to candidates from Dover. Most people connect both.

### Do interviews get Teams links?

With **Full permissions**, Dover creates a Microsoft Teams link for the meeting.

### Why do I need my Microsoft admin?

**Send + Read Emails** asks for permissions that a Microsoft admin may need to approve. See [Emailing candidates](https://docs.dover.com/managing-candidates/emailing-candidates/).

### Why can't I connect my Microsoft account?

You need a Microsoft business account, and your company's admin settings can block apps from connecting. Ask your IT team to allow Dover, then try again.

### Can I use Outlook Calendar with Gmail?

Yes. The calendar and email connections are separate, so you can use a different provider for each. Only one provider can be connected at a time for each.

### Does everyone on my team need to connect?

Each person who schedules interviews or sends email connects their own account.
