# Members

> Invite teammates, set their company permissions, handle access requests, and deactivate or reactivate members from Settings.

## Overview

Click **Settings** in the left sidebar, then **Members**, to see everyone with access to your Dover account. Use it to invite teammates, change what they can do across the company, approve access requests, and remove access when someone leaves. What a member can do comes from their **company permission set**. See [Permissions](https://docs.dover.com/settings/permissions/) for what each permission allows.

The page has four tabs, each with a count:

| Tab | What it shows |
| --- | --- |
| **Active** | Members who can sign in today. Each row shows their permission set and a **Status** column with a calendar icon and an email icon. See [Check who has connected their calendar and email](#check-who-has-connected-their-calendar-and-email). |
| **Pending** | People you invited who haven't joined yet. |
| **Requests** | People asking for access. See [Handle access requests](#handle-access-requests). |
| **Deactivated** | Members who no longer have access. |

Use **Search members** to find someone by name, and the permission set filter to see everyone with a given set.

## Check who has connected their calendar and email

On the **Active** tab, the **Status** column shows a calendar icon and an email icon for each member. Point to an icon to see its status.

- **Green:** connected. The tooltip names what's connected, such as **Gmail connected** or **Microsoft Outlook connected**.
- **Red:** not connected, or it needs the member to sign in again. The tooltip says **Calendar needs authentication** or **Email not connected**, followed by their email address.

Interviewers need a connected calendar for candidates to book with them, and anyone who emails candidates from Dover needs a connected email. Ask a member with a red icon to reconnect in their personal settings. See [Google integration](https://docs.dover.com/integrations/google-integration/) and [Microsoft integration](https://docs.dover.com/integrations/microsoft-integration/).

## Invite members

You need the **Manage members** company permission to invite people.

1. Click **Settings → Members**.
2. Click **+ Member**.
3. In **Invite your team**, enter the email addresses of the people to invite.
4. Choose their permissions. The choice **applies to everyone in this invite**.
5. Optionally, add a message to the invitation email.
6. Click **Invite**.

Dover emails each person a link to join. Until they do, they appear in the **Pending** tab, where you can click **Resend invite** or **Revoke invite**.

You can also click **Invite Your Team** in the left sidebar.

### Choose the default permissions for new members

Above the member list, **Auto-assign** shows the permission set every new member gets when they join. Choose a different set from the list to change it.

A new default applies only to people who join after you change it. Existing members keep what they have.

## Change a member's permissions or details

1. Click **Settings → Members**.
2. On the **Active** tab, find the member.
3. Click **Actions**, then **Edit details**.
4. Change their **First name**, **Last name**, **Title**, or **Permissions**.
5. Click **Save**.

A member has one company permission set at a time. To give someone access to a single job, add them to that job's hiring team instead. See [Job settings](https://docs.dover.com/settings/job-settings/).

---

## Handle access requests

When a member points to a button they can't use, Dover tells them which permission it needs. They can click **Request access**, and the request shows up in your **Requests** tab. There you can also see requests from teammates who want to send emails as someone else. See [Send emails as a teammate](#send-emails-as-a-teammate).

To answer a request for a permission:

1. Click **Settings → Members**, and open the **Requests** tab.
2. Find the request and click **Approve** or **Deny**.
3. If you approve, choose the permission set to give them. Members are assigned a whole permission set.

Only members with **Manage members** see requests for permissions.

## Send emails as a teammate

You can send candidate emails from a teammate's address, for example from a hiring manager, after they approve it. Requests and approvals happen on this page.

- **Ask for access:** find the teammate on the **Active** tab, click **Actions**, then **Request to email as** and their name. The request shows **Pending** until they respond.
- **Approve or deny:** a request to send as you appears on your **Requests** tab, labeled **Email as you**. Click **Approve** or **Deny**.
- **Revoke:** to end access, click **Actions** next to the person, then **Revoke email as permission**.

Once you're approved, the teammate's row shows **Email as: Granted**, and you can choose them as the sender when you email a candidate. For the steps to send, and to connect your own email first, see [Emailing candidates](https://docs.dover.com/managing-candidates/emailing-candidates/#send-emails-on-behalf-of-a-teammate).

## Deactivate or reactivate a member

Deactivate members who have left the company. They lose access right away, and their past feedback, comments, and notes stay in Dover.

1. Click **Settings → Members**.
2. On the **Active** tab, find the member.
3. Click **Actions**, then **Deactivate**.

To restore access, open the **Deactivated** tab, find the member, click **Actions**, then **Reactivate**.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why can't I invite or edit members?

You need the **Manage members** company permission. Ask someone who has it, such as an Admin, to invite people or to give you the permission.

### Can I give someone access to just one job?

Yes. Add them to the job's hiring team in **Job Settings**, and choose their job permissions. See [Job settings](https://docs.dover.com/settings/job-settings/).

### What happens to a member's work when I deactivate them?

They can't sign in, but the feedback, notes, and emails they added stay in Dover.

### Can I invite people outside my company?

Members usually join with an email address on one of your company domains. To invite people on other domains, you need ATS Premium. See [General settings](https://docs.dover.com/settings/general-settings/#company-domains).

### Why can't I send emails as a teammate?

Your request may still be **Pending**, or sending as a teammate may not be available on your plan. See [Send emails as a teammate](#send-emails-as-a-teammate).

### Where do I see my plan and pricing?

Some member features depend on your plan, such as custom permission sets and sending emails as a teammate. See [dover.com/pricing](https://www.dover.com/pricing).
