Permissions

See what company and job permissions allow, use the built-in permission sets, and create your own custom sets.

Dover has two kinds of permissions. Company permissions decide what a member can do across your whole account, such as inviting people or managing billing. Job permissions decide what a member can do on one job, such as moving candidates or seeing feedback. Each is given as a permission set, a named group of permissions.

  • Assign a member’s company permission set in Settings → Members. See Members.
  • Assign job permissions to a member on each job, in Job Settings. See Job settings.
  • Create and manage the sets themselves in Settings → Permissions. The page has a Company list and a Job list.

If you don’t see Permissions in Settings, contact Dover support to have it turned on for your account.

Custom sets can contain any mix of permissions. You need the Manage members company permission.

  1. Click Settings → Permissions.
  2. Choose the Company or Job list.
  3. Click + Permission set.
  4. Enter a name, choose the permissions, and click Save.

To change a custom set, open it and edit its permissions. Built-in sets show Built-in and can’t be changed.

You can’t delete a custom set, or remove permissions from it, while members still have it. Dover shows Permission set in use with a link to View matching company members. Move those members to another set in Settings → Members, then try again.

What’s the difference between company and job permissions?

Section titled “What’s the difference between company and job permissions?”

Company permissions apply everywhere, such as managing members, billing, and integrations. Job permissions apply to one job, such as editing it, viewing feedback, or managing offers.

You’re missing the permission it needs. Point to the button to see which one, and click Request access to ask a member who manages members. See Members.

Members with the Manage members company permission. Built-in sets can’t be edited by anyone.

Does a member have more than one permission set?

Section titled “Does a member have more than one permission set?”

A member has one company permission set. They can have a different job permission set on each job.

Yes, but custom sets depend on your plan. See dover.com/pricing.

Where do I find which permission a task needs?

Section titled “Where do I find which permission a task needs?”
