Referrals
Invite coworkers, investors, and friends to refer candidates and track every referral in Dover.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Invite coworkers, investors, and friends to refer candidates for your jobs. Referrers sign in to the referral portal to submit candidates, and you track every referral on each job’s Referrals tab.
Invite a referrer
Section titled “Invite a referrer”You invite a referrer from Settings → Referrers & Agencies. You can also start from a job, which fills in the job for you.
- Open a job and click the Referrals tab.
- Click + Referrer. Dover opens Settings → Referrers & Agencies with the Invite a referrer or agency window open and the Referrer tab selected.
- Enter the referrer’s Email. This field is required.
- Optionally, enter their Name and choose their Relationship to company.
- In Jobs, select every job they can refer candidates to. This field is required.
- Click Send invite.
Dover emails the referrer a link to the referral portal and shows Invite sent!. Click Done to close the window.
What referrers do in the referral portal
Section titled “What referrers do in the referral portal”Referrers sign in to the referral portal with the email address the invite was sent to. If they don’t have a Dover account yet, they create one from the sign-in page.
In the portal, a referrer can:
- See every job you shared with them, with counts of Submitted, Active, and Hired candidates.
- Click + Candidate next to a job to submit a candidate.
- Click a job to see the candidates they submitted, each candidate’s Current stage, and their Status.
- Click the copy link icon next to a job to copy a custom referral link. Candidates who apply through that link are credited to the referrer.
The Submit a candidate window has these fields:

When the referrer clicks Submit, Dover adds the candidate to the job and shows Candidate submitted!. The referrer can click Add another to submit more candidates.
Preview what referrers see
Section titled “Preview what referrers see”To see the portal before you invite anyone, go to Settings → Referrers & Agencies and click Preview portal. The preview shows sample jobs and candidates.
Track referrals
Section titled “Track referrals”Open a job and click the Referrals tab. Each row shows a referrer and counts of Submitted, Active, and Hires candidates. Click a row to see the candidates that referrer submitted.
Manage referrers across all jobs
Section titled “Manage referrers across all jobs”Settings → Referrers & Agencies lists every referrer and agency recruiter on your account with their Type, Status, and number of Jobs. The status is Active, Invited, or No account.
- To change which jobs a referrer can refer to, click the referrer’s row. Use the Active and Deactivated tabs, turn a job on or off, or select a job under Add job and click Add.
- To send an invite again, click the three dots on the row and click Resend invite. For a referrer with No account status, the option is Send invite.
- To copy the portal link and share it yourself, click the three dots and then Copy portal link.
- To remove access to all jobs at once, click the three dots, click Deactivate all jobs, and confirm. You can turn jobs back on later.

Section titled “How do referrals help my hiring process?”Referrals bring candidates you already have a connection to into your pipeline. You see every referred candidate in one place, and you can compare the number of submitted, active, and hired candidates for each referrer.
Are referred candidates specific to one job?
Section titled “Are referred candidates specific to one job?”Yes. A referrer submits each candidate for a specific job they were invited to. After a candidate is added, you can move that candidate to another job.
What happens to the old referral links?
Section titled “What happens to the old referral links?”The old referral links no longer open a submission form. They show a page that asks the referrer to sign in to the referral portal with the email address the invite was sent to. Referrers you already added keep their candidates.
Can I stop someone from referring candidates?
Section titled “Can I stop someone from referring candidates?”Yes. In Settings → Referrers & Agencies, click the referrer’s row and turn off the jobs, or click the three dots and then Deactivate all jobs. You can turn the jobs back on later.
Where can I see pricing and plan details?
Section titled “Where can I see pricing and plan details?”The number of referrers you can invite depends on your plan. See dover.com/pricing. If you see an upgrade message when you click Send invite, you’ve reached the limit for your current plan.
